Quilting is something I never thought about, further learning is required, 🙏

I’ve seen some extraordinary quilts, Mark. Creations of art.

I googled quilts & quilting, and saw and read about this amazing craft. The inclusion of “keepsake” I thought was particularly poignant. I learnt something new, which is always pleasing. 🙏

I never thought of objects sewn into the patches. That's a pretty awesome idea. I'm definitely curious about them now. Hehe. Great post, Rea.

what a mesmerizing montage, rea. i love the idea of linen as language - rule-bound (with exceptions everywhere) and riddled with meaning behind every locked door. so spellbinding.

Rea de Miranda's avatar

Thank you, Skott. It tells a story. I watched a documentary about the history of quilts. Fascinating.

I love the history literally sown into these kind of quilts!

Love this homage - an elder poet we published has African patchwork dolls on a museum tour- such a rich language- love the inclusion of the quilt on the bed- my grandmother sewed so many

You are fortunate, Jolene. I wish my grandmother made quilts.

I love this idea. It is the thread that brings us together. My mother added a lock of my Great grandmother's hair wrapped in a ribbon into a family album she created for me.

You are fortunate, Richard! Thank you for sharing that with me. <3
