Conquer Yourself
Then the victory is yours!
We can be our own worst enemies in this life. We sabotage our happiness and peace by fighting whatever we think we don’t deserve. I am sure you have been in a situation where you felt threatened by your own adventurous spirit and then lost out on something special. For so long, I didn’t think I deserved anything good and stayed safe without taking any chances in life.
What kind of a life is that to lead? Staying in your comfort zone and never doing anything crazy or impulsive is a waste of a good life, if you ask me. Well, I refuse to lead that kind of life any longer. The world is out there to conquer, as well as my fears of getting hurt. Whatever is supposed to happen will, and if I don’t grab life with both hands, it will pass me by, and that is not something to look forward to.
We feel terrified of things and never pursue something we could be great at. When I was young, I decided I was going to be a journalist, come hell or high water, and I just went for it with my all. It could have failed and nobody would have realized my potential. But fortunately, I had an editor who believed in me. If you know you can do something, don’t shy away because you fear failure. Just conquer your own spirit and do it.
We don’t just ask someone we are interested in for his/her number because we are scared of being rejected. So what if you are? You can walk away with dignity. Don’t waste a good opportunity with your unfounded fear that you are not good enough for that person. Perhaps this person is your soulmate, and also too scared to come forward. How many paths have you not steered clear of that could have led to greatness in your life? I am sure we all can count at least a few.
“It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.” - Buddha
