Rea, this made me go and find this famous old Bukowski quote: "Find what you love and let it kill you. Let it drain from you your all. Let it cling onto your back and weigh you down into eventual nothingness. Let it kill you and let it devour your remains. For all things will kill you, both slowly and fastly, but it's much better to be killed by a lover."
I worked in book publishing in my twenties, and my two bosses, both men, suggested I start reading Bukowski to better understand male writers. Oh, and Philip Roth! Together, it was all a LOT. :)
Thank you, genuinely, I needed to hear/read that today of all days! x
Three immediate thoughts in quick succession:
A
I’d said to my three children yesterday that I love the word ‘serendipity’ at present, I even used the word ‘serendipitously’ in a message to a close friend yesterday too.
B
Late yesterday, as in late last night, an old boss of mine from years back reached out to me with the offer of work.
I am genuinely in two minds about the possible offer of work though, one reason being that it requires an immediate start (and at a time I’ve just bought a new house to make in to a new home for my children and I, which is an entirely different story).
C
I am currently not working, by choice, as I recently resigned from a very new role that made me deeply unhappy / uncomfortable.
It was not done lightly, as I had no job to go to, but it was entirely the right thing to do. Still, I still have bills to pay.
I have also joked, work-wise, and with my children and others that although I DID recently resign from that new job I’d still rather than starve …
Spooky!
A fourth thought?
My dear old Dad and I had a lovely, long chat yesterday; we touched upon everything from
- “something will turn up”
- to tears (he and I do get emotional at times amongst the joking…)
- to testicles (don’t ask but it was said after a deeply reflective, tearful moment)
So?
Serendipity?
Significant moments in life?
“Something will turn up” moments so we don’t all ‘starve’?
My old boss from years ago messaged me last night, he’s to call me this morning?
Absolutely loved this
Thank you! 🧡
When I read don't do it, the fire becomes even stronger :) This was beautiful ✨🙏
Thank you, Octarine! 🧡
Passion burns, and we love the heat. Once we experience that feeling, nothing less will do. Love, Virg
True that, Virg! Thank you.
This was great.
Thank you, Nancy!
🤎💪🏽
I throughly enjoyed your collaboration, “don’t do it” - is such a powerful sentence and message. 🙏
Thank you, Mark! 🙏
I love this.

I love that quote, Patty! He is one of my favorite writers. Thank you for sharing it. 🤍🤍
Loved your duet. I kept wondering, Don't do what? I'm assuming that is for the reader to imagine.
Unless it fills you with fire, don’t do it. We should only do what follows our bliss. Does that make more sense?
Loved this Rea! The antithesis of throwing caution to the wind (my usual mode!) Sometimes it’s good to be reminded of alternative choices, eh 😂
I always throw caution to the wind, Esther! This is my reminder. 😆
😂
We all need those words. How often do we jump feet first and fall flat on our faces. 💞
That's the only way, Brenda!
Oh my, well, THAT was well timed.
Thank you, genuinely, I needed to hear/read that today of all days! x

As my dear old Dad and I might well say
“ohhh bollocks 🤣 x”
Thank you!
