Yes two awful emotions. Suck you dry. I see it too.

Sadly unnecessary, Brenda. <3

Jealousy and envy are a toxic combination.

A dynamic that’s best dealt with immediately, not an easy thing to do.

But if dealt with correctly leads to a better and stronger “I”.

I Hope that makes sense!! Brain, hands and words not working in unison!

That makes perfect sense, Mark! Jealousy should be nipped in the bud as soon as it arises.

👌you’re right two completely useless wastes of energy

Waste of precious energy, Jade. <3 <3

Absolutely agree with this bit of wisdom!

Thank you, Deer! I saw some of it making the rounds here on Substack.

Ooh no! Not something I’ve witnessed yet, but I can imagine it happens. I read once that jealousy is mostly insecurity in disguise; thought that was interesting.

Rea de Miranda's avatar

I agree with that notion.

I know. I've felt that plenty of times🙁

Sadly. 🤗💓

Very wise words Rea, and I particularly agree with your conclusion…recognise and redirect these potentially damaging emotions 💪

Before it becomes destruction. Thank you, Esther. <3

Rea, your words struck a clear note—how jealousy & envy can fray the edges of a life when left unchecked. I’ve known that unraveling too. But I’ve never been one to cast those feelings out entirely.

When they come, I sit with them. Quietly. Not to fan their flame, but to ask them why. Why here? Why now? What longing have I left unattended? What part of me is knocking to be seen? I don’t name them shameful. I treat them as signals—imperfect, yes, but honest. A compass pointing toward the places I’ve forgotten to claim.

So I listen. I learn. I realign.

Thank you for this generous offering—it’s stirred something necessary.

They are normal emotions when we acknowledge them and search for their origin. When those emotions become an obsession it can only lead to pain. Thank you for looking at it from your point of view, Kim. I love when my readers interact with my words. <3 <3

Oh Rea, this just isn't written about in contemplative spaces nearly enough. These two destructive emotions run rampant in consumer culture--so much so that we stop seeing them for what they are. I love the word "useless" because you are so right--when we give into them, they serve nobody. I always think of Mama Earth and how everything and everyone in her ecosystems matter. The termite ants and elephants come to mind, each of them in need of the other for a whole landscape. All are one. When we trust in that truth, goodness arises. <3

It serves nobody, you are right, Stephanie. It only hurts the person who believes its lies. Thank you for your lovely comment. <3 <3
