Magical Night

Flames lick at my toes as they stretch towards the heat
Shadows move between the trees, playing hide-and-seek

I hear my heart beating in the stillness
Like an ancient rhythmic drum in tune with the night

An owl hoots from the dark woods
A lonesome sound accentuated by the quiet

I wish you were here on this autumn night
To bid the last warmth of summer farewell

As the sickle moon drifts across the sky
Ethereal clouds obscure its silver glow

Stars flicker in the dark-blue night sky
Like candles lit by celestial hands 

Your name emblazoned on my heart
Embedded in its chambers for infinity

Far-off lightning flashes across the sky
Distant thunder rumbles as sleep claims me

The scene, set for magical dreams 
Where you dance me to the end of time
