The nightmare of insomnia, which feels like an intrusive presence, an unwanted companion that disrupts the natural rhythm of life and rest.

But the bonus is that I have plenty of time to explore and create digital art!

It wakes up the mind, to create. You are right, Mark!

And yet, so many times, words for the page will arrive along with all the rest.

Oh yes, I think many of us will relate to this…I end up getting up and reading because the alternative is the endless recycling of thoughts…ugh! Restacking ❤️

Dear Rea, I relate to this completely! As much as one looks forward to rest, there is always that nagging fear of what the night will actually bring.

I think Hopper captures this feeling well-

Wow! A diner filled with sleepless people! I had a look at Hopper's other paintings as well! Thank you, Mike.

Dear Rea, I think this one is my favorite. After a brief period of unemployment some years ago, the only job I could get was administering university research grants, internships, and reviewing proposals.

I was very upset at the time that Id reached “Game Over” on my technical career, when was gifted a framed print of this Hopper, with a note that read, “Stop whining. You've got the best job ever! You are opening doors and shining light into the darkness for the next generation of scientists and engineers!”.

This painting is a constant reminder of that reassurance

The dreaded nights of insomnia. I remember them well, but luckily have not had very many in the last few years.

This poem moves with the rhythm of sleeplessness…wandering, haunted, and beautifully restless. Like the long night. Lovely.

Thank you for feeling that restless haunting, Kim.
