Our Children
Will heal Mother Earth.
Our children will be the creators of the future
They will plant forests
Where we left ruins and destruction
They will nurture Earth back to her glory
Where our steps left her burning
They will sow seeds of compassion
The hatred our ancestors curated
Will be turned into divine love
Where darkness reigns
They will be the light that shines
Where we used Earth as a commodity
They will nurture her bounty
Where poverty and pain ruled
They will feed the world with reverence
Their sparks are already uniting
To become a roaring fire of change
That will uplift all nations
Creating the ultimate Eden
We failed to accomplish
They will realise that greed kills
Like it did for millennia
While we were blind to the evil
Their eyes will be opened
Evil will flee from their shining lights
Where blood soaked the earth
Love will spring forth
Mother Nature will once again
Be gloriously worshipped
With sacred reverence

My son, who is a very deep thinker with a mathematical brain said in conversation yesterday that history shows that man has moved in very small increments towards a better morality. He said it doesn't seem that way when we look at the bad. He actually referenced the dismantling of Apartheid as an example and the move towards a more integrated and tolerant society. I thought that was interesting. Let's hope our children do better.
