We Remember Our Emotions
The way someone makes you feel lasts a lifetime.
We always remember how someone or something made us feel. Emotions leave a lasting impression on our psyche. Whether it’s pain or happiness, it stays with us forever.
We associate places and people with the emotions we experienced. If an event evoked no feelings in us, it won’t be remembered.
This is how we are influenced in our lives, by the way we were treated and the way it made us feel about ourselves.
So do negative emotions, perhaps even more so. Because it shapes the way we see ourselves. Emotions of events are imprinted on our minds.
Our memories aren’t made from inconsequential experiences. It is made from lasting impressions on our hearts. Emotions last a lifetime.
Childhood memories play a huge role in the choices we make as adults. The emotions our parents evoked in us stay with us till adulthood. Good and bad, it lasts forever.
Emotions such as anger, fear, excitement, agony, confusion, shame, love, hate, disappointment, joy, bitterness, and anxiety are the highlights of our remembrance.
We can recall situations clearly through the emotions they evoke, as they leave an everlasting mark. However, we can choose to use those emotions to improve our lives by learning from the lessons they teach us.
Leave someone with a positive attitude today. Years from now, they will remember how you made them feel.

I remember reading what you say is less important to people than how you make them feel…what your post is about, basically. It’s such an important point. We’re like icebergs aren’t we…the big stuff is happening under the surface!
This feels so true. As someone who had a difficult childhood and family experience, I still carry much of that emotion with me, and it informs my actions and decision to this day as a spouse, parent and grandparent. Thank you for this. Love, Virg
